After Galveston became the most important port in the southwestern US, the Texan city has now developed into a main tourist destination, which attracts visitors with its beaches, its Victorian buildings, its historic district and the hospitality of its inhabitants.
The most popular attractions include Moody Gardens, where several habitats are presented in pyramids. The Rainforest Pyramid contains tropical animals and plants while the Aquarium Pyramid is about marine life in different regions of the world.
The National Historic Landmark District is worth a visit as well. The district which was the center of Galveston between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century is known for its boutiques, restaurants and art galleries.
