City descritpion
About 155 kilometers south of the Canadian border, Seattle is the economic and cultural center of the region called Pacific Northwest. The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Due to its numerous parks, Seattle is also known as the “Emerald City”.
The so-called Space Needle is the perfect place for a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. The futuristic tower was created for the 1962 world exhibition and is today one of the most popular attractions of the city. Pike Place Market is worth a visit as well. The market, founded in 1907 and situated near the port, is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States and offers a wealth of culinary delicacies.
