City descritpion
New Orleans is known as the epitome of the way of life in the Southern States. Situated directly at the Mississippi, the historic French Quarter is famous for its colonial buildings from the Spanish and French era, its creole cuisine and its music clubs. If you prefer a leisurely tour you can discover the “Berth of jazz” by a historic tramway which is as much a symbol of the city as are the numerous festivals and the cosmopolitan population. The most important events include carnival which is celebrated between the end of February and the beginning of March and the Jazz Heritage Festival between the end of March and the beginning of April.
