City descritpion
Located on a peninsula between the confluence of the Cooper and Ashley Rivers in South Carolina, Charleston has preserved its colonial heritage.
The most important sights include Fort Sumter (built in the mid-19th century) where the first military conflict took place during the American Civil War. Today, you can inform about the forts history at the visitor center and visit the fort by boat.
The Victorian buildings, the old gardens and the cobblestone streets are also worth seeing.
